TE Connectivity Fosters Diversity in Technology with $ 3.5 Million African Heritage Scholarship Program

SCHAFFHAUSEN, Switzerland, July 19, 2021 / PRNewswire / – In an effort to further diversify its workforce and provide new opportunities in the tech industry to top performing minority students, TE Connectivity, a global leader in connectivity and sensors, engaged himself $ 3.5 million towards a new scholarship and internship program for students who identify as black or African-American.

Rising second-year students are eligible to apply for the program, which would begin with a paid internship the summer following their second year at one of the many TE sites throughout the year. United States. Students who successfully complete the internship will receive a scholarship of up to $ 22,500, depending on training needs and costs, and be invited to come back for a second internship the following summer. The scholarship would then be eligible for renewal for their final year. TE expects a new cohort of students to join the African Heritage Fellowship program every year for the next five years.

For the program’s first summer in 2022, internships are available in engineering, product management, supply chain, operations and sales at TE sites in six different states. The TE internship program is designed to bridge leadership development programs and early career roles in the company. In addition to real-world work experience with global impact, TE interns participate in a wide range of professional development workshops covering financial literacy, corporate communications, and personal branding. Other programs include global networking events, community engagement opportunities, and executive exposure.
